Mark Knopfler

Get the low down on the guitar legend with the M.E.N Arena's top five facts:

1: Following last year's critically-acclaimed May show and 2006's co-headline performance with Emmylou Harris, the Grammy award-winning Knopfler returns with his sixth solo release since 2007's Kill To Get Crimson.

2: Best known as the lead guitarist and vocalist for Dire Straits, Knopfler also played in supergroup The Notting Hillbillies as well as guest performing on work by Bob Dylan, Bryan Ferry, Eric Clapton, Jools Holland and the late Chet Atkins.

3: One of the most respected guitarists of the modern rock era, Knopfler is ranked number 27 in Rolling Stone magazine's '100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time'.

4: Knopfler has also scored the music to several films including Wag The Dog, The Princess Bride, Metroland and Local Hero.
